I can’t give medical advice either but I can tell you about our experiences here.
I just wanted to mention one thing. A tapeworm can come from ingesting a flea or a tapeworm egg and once they have tapeworms, there can be intestinal discomfort. Maybe ask the vet if this could be the source of the original problem? Worms can be hard to determine sometimes unless you see the evidence. Now that you have seen one, definitely let the vet know. This may make a difference. Maybe the back and forth on pooping will stop with the elimination of the worms! Hoping! I happen to be going through a similar problem. Also, be sure to super clean all bedding, boxes, change litter etc. because eggs can be deposited without us realizing it. I am steam cleaning for added insurance here. We will be going through at least two rounds of treatment per our vets instructions. Your vet can guide you. Wouldn’t it be great to solve this simply with worms meds and be done? I hope for you and for us.
