Hi. I've been reading TCS for a little over 2 yrs now but didn't join until today. Every time I Google any cat-related question, TCS pops up with great info! So, thanks to all the members for helping me learn to become a better informed cat guardian.
I've had dogs since I was a kid. Never "got" cats. At all.
After a very traumatic event, I found myself needing something to take care of to give me a reason to get out of bed each morning. I went to the shelter for a big dog and came out with a cat. The little girls from next door were thrilled they chose a cat for me. I was simply bewildered. Clapton has become the love of my life, quite honestly.
Clapton is approx 8 yrs old. He's white with grey and has a permanent smile on his cute little face. He'll come when I whistle for him. A sweeter, more shy boy I've never met. He's very happy to curl up in my lap & I'm delighted to have him there. He seems a bit obsessive about his grooming but I still know so little about cats... Heart murmur. His favorite activity is to vomit regardless of proximity to feedings.
I was volunteering at a trap and release rescue organization when I met a 2'ish yr old dilute calico with huge green eyes. Her name is Layla. I can't help but laugh when she's half asleep and the tip of her tongue is hanging out of her mouth. She's funny, needy and squeaks at me all the time. She'll eat anything, and does. Healthy as a horse. Much hardier than Clapton.
I'm still learning about cat behaviour.
I'm pulling my hair out over food issues. Fortunately, I've found some resources and suggestions here which I hope will help me sort this out.
My friends call me Dohdee (sounds like Jodi). I'm not working at the moment but have had more than one successful career. 50 is closer than 40, shockingly.
Sorry for the long intro... *eep!*
Look forward to getting to know you!
