My cat is very pregnant and should be due any time now however there was a concern that I wanted to see if taking her to the vet is necessary as I do not want to cause unneeded stress.
Basically on Sunday between 3 and 4 pm est my wife and I came home and notices her genitals had blood on them and was wet. She acted perfectly, normal ran around drank and ate. But did lick her genitals a lot. Nothing happened but she continued to have blood/wetness for about 24 hours and it seemed to have stopped. It was not a lot of blood but left a spot smaller than a dime wherever she sat.

Just wanted to see if this was something to be concerned about or how soon to expect babies. No noticeable signs of pain or distress. Wife says it seems like the babies moved lower. Thanks for taking the time to read/respond

Thank you. I have read through those but I am still not sure of an answer and I get conflicting answers online. She started having a little blood/flood again today after almost 24 hours of not. I just wanted to see if this is normal and she is working through about to give birth or If there is a problem.

Hi!
Do you have a vet you can speak with? In case this is indicative of a problem you'll need one anyway...

Contact your local Humane Society or SPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or American Veterinary Medical Association and ask about veterinary care, including low cost care.

I do have a vet and money is not the issue. I do not want to cause unneeded stress by going in. I was just trying to see if i am over worrying and if this was normal or not. I have called vet and was told to make sure there was no signs of pain or distress. I guess this was mostly a reassurance question as I have read conflicting things online.

Started Sunday for about 24 hours. Then stopped for 24 and started again today. I guess more pinkish. It's not flowing or dripping but if she sits it leaves a small mark.

As long as it is not bright red, the pinkish discharge is normal. She should give birth any day now. I would not be surprised if she is in early labor already.

So a little update... we called the vet about the blood and he said not to be concerned that sometimes they do spot up to a week before. She has been having it off and on. Not for extended periods.
As of last night she started acting weird and would rearrange her sitting position and switch between hiding under our bed and coming up and sitting at the foot of our bed. This morning while I was at work my wife says she began acting as she did when she was in heat. Could this be a sign of things moving forward?
The vet was nice and seemed like he really knew what he was talking about and helped put us at ease but of course I'm a worrier.

Your cat sounds like a normal pregnant cat with her behavior, and it means her hormones are in high gear getting her body ready to labor and deliver very soon. The hormones evident in heat are the same ones that are seen in pregnancy. I thought she was ready earlier this week, but the extra days just help the kittens get bigger! Hang in there!

Thank you. Sorry just nerve wracking with the blood and we thought she should have gone days ago. Even the vet calls dont calm me lol! She does still spot blood every now and then but it doesnt last long. And i really dont want to stress her out by bringing her in just to make me feel better.

So the Mrs. Called me while I was at work. She said that her bed was wet and her back legs were wet and everything was clear. Safe to assume that was the water breaking?. Thanks in advance for reading/helping.

That's good to hear thank you so much. And thank you for well wishes. Sorry for another question but hwne you say "things should pick up now" is there a general timeline after water breaking? How long after is not considered normal?

It’s hard to say as every cat is different. Some will deliver within 24 hours while for others it could be a few days. Is your wife seeing any contractions in her sides? They look like ripples. Also, first stage labor lasts about 24 hours.

We thought we saw contractions last night. And today my wife believed she was having them here and there. We aren't positive but that was the only thing we could thing of being what we saw. I really hope it's within 24 hours been stressing since I first posted lol.
