Thank you ;)  The breeder said the same thing, and she has had a couple of fever coats before, her exact words is that she has never seen anything like this and for me to take pictures every week and send them to her.  I also think the mother was incorrectly named in her coloring, she looks very silver to me not blue.

Here is a picture I took this morning while he was asleep, I don't know if something was reflecting off him or what but in this picture he almost looks purple.  He is nowhere close in coloring to the brown

tabby laying beside him except for the front of his head, and it is almost like there is a line drawn where his coloring changes right across the top of his head.

And I agree---those 5- and 6-week pictures are soooo cute! I want to steal him!
He is the most adorable little guy ever!  I love the weekly sequence of pictures.  I just saw this breed for the first time yesterday on TCS... What beautiful cats they are.

Blue and blue silver can be similar, but the base is white on a silver. Incorrectly registered colours are often picked up by judges at shows - yet another reason it's important for breeders to show their cats.

Your kitten is not a silver though, you can easily tell black silvers when they are kittens and the face of your kitten is a brown. You can see the difference in my avatar, that's a black silver (which is the silver version of a brown cat)

Have you got a full 5 generation pedigree with your kitten? that will tell you the colours of the grandparents

No, all i know is that one of the grandparents was a silver, and another was a seal point.

All i know is the breeder swears there is no way possible it is a fever coat and that she has never seen anything like this kitten before lol.

and the mother is just now starting to come out of my room (yes I paid a fortune and bought her because the kitten looked so small to me).She is listed as a blue tabby.  around her eyes, front of legs, chest, neck, etc... looks white (or a very light color) and the rest is a grayish/silver color with darker stripes.  I havent been able to get close enough to her to really pet her or take a pic of her.  she is just now starting to come up to me but if i reach out my hand she runs.

I got my kitten at 6 weeks and didn't even realise this was too young- i've had cats since i was a child but maybe i was ignorant in not finding out wht the proper age should be. At least we both know now hey!

Have a look at my album- 'My Boys'- i have a brown tabby kitten, he's 14 weeks old and sometimes looks silver, especially when he was a lot smaller- his pads are black and has similar fur in between like yours. If you look at the pic where he is sat in my boyfriends hand i think you'll agree ours looked very similar? Although yours clearly has a long haired face- reminds me of a maine coon!

However, as he gets older ive noticed mine is getting browner- as opposed to the silvr grey he started as. His mum was Tortie and i can't remember about his dad, but the kittens were a mixed bunch! Ginger, ginger & white, 1 tabby, 1 black with a tabby face (!) and 1 tortie.

CUTE!

Some of the big problems with cats & kittens are
  • people not realising that many kittens struggle away from mum at that age - among other things they can get tummy upsets and have litter tray problems, and the stress can bring out any illnesses
  • people not realising how young or quickly a female cat can get pregnant, and that she can get pregnant with just one mating which takes seconds
  • People not realising that spaying a female before her first heat prevents pyometra (often fatal uterus infection) and mostly prevents breast cancer - in other words it's about a lot more than preventing unwanted kittens arriving.

Genetically there's only 4 possibilities blue, blue silver, brown and black silver (if Dam is a silver, otherwise just blue or brown as I already said)

Your cat isn't blue, blue silver or black silver

Also blues do have light faces, I'll post pics of my girl later to show you.

I think we need to see more photos of this kitten, taken in daylight - by a north-facing window is ideal  We want to see his face with his nose leather, his pads and the underneath of his feet, and of course all of him...

Newborn silvers are easiest identified by the face, and your kittens face is brown, as is his body. I specialise in breeding silvers.

Blue cat (not blue silver)

A black silver at birth (the silver version of brown)

And a brown at birth - you can see they are very different colours. And browns don't become silver, a fever coat can cause that.

Likewise blue can be seen at birth, they don't turn into blue.

Blue at birth

And blue at 4 weeks

If you are questioning your breeders ability to know colours why on earth would you then buy a kitten from them? Especially one who lets kittens go so young and apparently without a pedigree
