Besides caring for my own crew of 6, I care for a colony of 5 and foster/volunteer with my local Humane Society...adoptions, TNR, cleaning, meds, etc.
Well...I get home from work yesterday and get a SOS call from VP of Humane Society. Apparently, some moran dropped off a box of 4-wk. old kittens at the adoption center with nobody on call yet. Doors to adoption center are closed until 5pm. I was there within 10 minutes, assessing them & cleaning them up for foster care. Within minutes, a man walks in with a very sick kitten, 6-wks. old saying he can't care for him because he is going on his honeymoon but here is $20.00, thanks & good-bye. (hope it pours everyday of his darn honeymoon) Within minutes of that beauty walking out...2 young girls walk in (in 20's) flinging their hair and returning a kitten they adopted 1-week ago. On and on they went how this little kitten gave both of them ringworm & pink-eye. YIKES!!
These animals are not articles of clothing that you bring home and try for a week only to return them. This is LIFE we are talking about!! What are these people thinking about when they do things like this??!! I was so mad & so sad that I didn't know if I should cry or scream.
I went to bed at 9:30pm emotionally drained. I give a lot of credit to those that do rescue and/or adoptions on a daily basis. It is such an emotional rollercoaster that I can't imagine keeping up that pace on a daily basis.
Okay. Feel better now that I got that out. God bless those out there that give so much of themselves to our fuzzy friends
