Susie, with my piercing...I had to lay down. He took a "needle" anout 4-6 inches in length and just used his hands to pierce through the skin. Basically, the way my belly button is shaped, I have to use a "J" curve ring. Yes, which is in the shape of a "J" (more like this... ")" He pinched the skin right above the belly button stuck the needle in and then put the belly ring through it..the bottom of the ring comes out through the belly button. I got a pic at home on my computer I can show you. I got it done 12/30/2004 and it is still trying to heal. I have to clean it every day with a special solution.. I like it a lot...it just hurts when my pants pull on it when I sit down sometimes.
