I posted recently in this thread about my mom's cat Lou and his latest bout with what we think was pancreatitis. This time Lou had a brief period of "acute" illness (vomiting) but acted abnormally and didn't have much of an appetite for about a week before AND a week after the vomiting episodes. Lou had his first bout of pancreatitis in August 2010, but that time he vomited everything he ate for ~12 hours, didn't act strangely beforehand, and seemed to bounce right back to good health after receiving anti-nausea medication at the vet's.
For those of you who've had kitties with pancreatitis, is it a chronic condition that flares up every few months or a few times a year? Did your kitties seem to recover quickly, or did their abnormal behavior persist for a while after they stopped vomiting? Is there any advice (diet, routine, etc.) you have about preventing future pancreatitis episodes, if it is a recurring thing?
Thank you in advance
