We have a new male cat who is about 15 months old that we just had neutered about a week and a half ago. He is a rescue. He wanders into random rooms of the house and meows loudly. We understand this is often a way male cats attract mates. We are wondering if this behavior will go away on its own or if there is a way to train him to not do it. Any insight on this is greatly appreciated!

It could still be hormones. It can take a few weeks for all of the hormones to get out of their system after neutering, so it's likely you'll see him settle down over the next little while.

It is possible that he's just vocal. We had one cat (male) who always announced when he changed floors. Went upstairs, on yowl, went downstairs, one yowl. It was actually a bit funny.

One thing to keep an eye on if he's always a bit vocal is to have a quick vet check - sometimes cats will vocalize loudly if they're disoriented. It's not likely because he's so young. Chances are it's just hormones still, but something to keep in mind.
