I'll bet you that a local convalescent facillity would love to get unwanted books donated, just a thought,
@sivyaleah I still have a collection of Anne Rice books. I used to go buy them as soon as they were available. I don't know what to even do with them now, they are in a pile in the spare bedroom floor with a ton of other books that I don't have room for. I am out of bookshelf room in the house, and no where really that I want to add another.
I used to sell used books on eBay, but it has gotten so nitpicky and complicated I just can't. even. deal. Plus the whole thing with the sales tax now. Just makes me not want to bother.
Thank you! And look for more questions about books here and there...they are a huge part of my life, I'm thinking about an e-reader, but there are certain authors I'll always want in print, just for the heft and feel of the book in my hands.
great question! and so glad you'll be doing wednesday's QotD!
i read almost exclusively via the kindle app on my computer. i do have a kindle reader, which is mainly used when there's a power outage. i have hundreds of books on my kindle reader, though even if i delete them from the device i can still re-download them from my amazon account (no need to buy them again).
it really depends on the book (ebook) whether i'll read it more than once. though after a while and having read other books, i might very well reread a book i'd enjoyed before.
I understand. When the first season of Outlander aired on Starz, I was so excited to watch the episodes and I think I watched them all at least 3 times, some of them more often.
@Winchester I got through books 1-3 of Outlander and I am done. Book 1 was painful until she went back in time. Frank got on my nerves so bad that I found myself wishing that someone would throw him off a building. Book 2 was slightly better. Book 3 was downright painful. I got through it but I could not wait for it to be over. The more I got to know Claire and Jamie the more I liked Captain Jonathan Randall.
$3.99 an episode on top of the $8.99 a month? They don't tell you that on the website. I'd raise hell with Amazon. That's a horrible deal

This season? I really don't care. Part of it is that I'm watching through Prime, so I don't see it on Saturday night like I would be if I had Starz through the cable company. Part of it is that it's simply not holding my interest the way the first season did, the whole bit about being in France, about Claire losing the baby, etc. It's simply not as interesting this season....at least to me.
And since I'm watching it through Prime, not only am I paying the $8.99 a month for Starz, but I'm ALSO paying $3.99 for each episode! Not a good deal at all and I didn't realize it would be such a rip-off. I should have stayed with the cable for the duration of the show, then cancelled, like I did last year.
Anyway, that's my Outlander beef.
I like the books, but man, some of them were hard to delve through. As I recall, I had some issues with Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager, too. Once they actually got into the Colonies and set up life there, it got a bit easier again. But I agree that there's a lot of wordiness!
I've never read or seen any of Outlander, but I have to confess to being one of those people who falls in love with the villain all the time. I think that's why I like Mishima so much, the main characters in his novels are always such flawed, malicious types. You know they are going to come to a sticky end and they probably deserve it, but it's so much fun reading along as they get there.
I cannot stand Claire. When you want the heroine in a book to die you know it's a bad sign. When the villain is your favorite character and you are devastated when THEY die and the heroine LIVES, you know you are done.
