In your opinion, what covered song is better than the original?







I actually have a few covered songs in mind that I liked better than the original, including many modern ones. Buuuut can't help but list this one first as a good starting point for this thread:

I love Jimi Hendrix's version of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower.

I don't think this thread would be complete without a mention of "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston.

That one came to mind immediately. I know Dolly is a legend in her own right; but Whitney… Her version crossed genera lines and became iconic.

I much prefer the Byrds version of Mr. Tambourine Man to the Bob Dylan original.

This may be controversial, and I own that, but I vastly prefer Alien Ant Farm's version of Smooth Criminal over Michael Jackson's.

Also the Beatles' Twist and Shout over the Isley Brothers.

In my opinion, I do not find Whitney's over the top version better than Dolly's.
