That's similar to my reason. It's what my sweetheart called me in Yiddish.
@sivaleah Should the spelling be Debbeleh instead of Debbila for Debbie?
While I know more Yiddish, than Hebrew (which is none) I'm not sure!
My grandmother also used that for my real name - Laurala, instead of Laurie.

So common for those who speak that language!

TheLane is very close to how you pronounce my name. The mum of an English friend of mine made a whole joke about it. The Down just sounded good, and I'm also depressed af, so it works😂

Oh, let me see if I can shorten this story. Several years ago, when I still lived in Tennessee, I had two young friends who used to come by in the evenings and take me out for a drive. We'd drive around and talk, sometimes for hours, about any and everything. One night, VERY near Halloween, they came by, and I jokingly said, "Well, Children of the Dark (because we always went at night), Mother Night is ready to go!" They shortened it to "Mama Night," and never called me anything else again. I just changed the spelling, and added my birth year...because, oddly enough, when I first went to join a site using "mamanyt," it was taken!

Mine is the second part of both of my cats' names. It's Sanskrit for Jewel.
