My mom's fried chicken. I have tried to replicate it, but never succeeded. She hated to cook, so when I asked her at the age of twelve or thirteen if I could start cooking, she was relieved. She still cooked sometimes, and her Sunday fried chicken was the best.

My grandmother’s recipe for Irish beef stew which has been passed down to both my mother and my aunt. My mother even copied down the recipe when she went to university so she could make it herself away from home.
