It wasn't really a vacation- more like an extended weekend- but Michele and I took a trip to West Virginia and Ohio, during which we rode trains at Cass and Sugar Creek; descended into the New River gorge at Hawk's Nest; toured the Fenton glass factory at Parkersburg; visited an Amish store at Kidron, O; and then, finally, wandered back to WNY. I always wanted to take her on a Windjammer cruise to the Caribbean, but it never happened, and I can't stand the thought of being on one of those monster cruise ships.

Really don't know, haven't had a vacation in over 30 years. Our idea of a vacation is to get away overnight, my cats have leukemia and need their meds. So far so good on missing one day three to four times a year. They disappear and don't come out when starngers (anyone) shows up.

Hard to say. I've only been on five in my life - going overseas is a massive, expensive undertaking from Australia to Europe or the Americas, the only places I've wanted to see. None of them was undilutedly great. I would say in some respects the first was the best - England and France in 1989, when I finally got to see my favourite painting in the world. There were different parts of the others that were great (except the second trip, which was awful) - going to Yosemite National Park was extraordinary. But no, no overall favourite.

A train trip I took years ago. I flew to Toronto and the took a vintage train for four days west across canada to Vancouver. Beautiful scenery, great meals and interesting passengers from all over the world. Once in Vancouver I went sightseeing for a couple days, then took a train to Seattle, more sightseeing, and then an Amtrak train back home.

That’s a hard question! I’m not a big traveler; but Ive enjoyed some different places. I think it depends on the season of life and who was there.

Taking my kids to Disney when they were younger was AMAZING. Expensive and exhausting sure; but watching them experience it all (plus they were decorating for Christmas!) was worth it! Being November meant the heat and humidity were good too.

Just before my senior year of high school I got to go on a cruise with a bunch of people from my church; so that included a number of friends. I don’t know how it started but we all worked with a travel agent so our rooms were together and everything. I roomed with my mom and another lady from church. But at Key West a couple of us girls got to walk around with the older cousin of one of my friends. She was just out of college so old enough but we got to see more things we were interested in while our mothers did other toury type things. (DH and I visited Hemmingway House and I pet the cats on another trip.) In Mexico we stuck with our families but on the ship we did our own thing a lot and just had a good time.

It would be Victoria falls with my mum in law. We got to see so many animals in the wild and had such fun. Even when the power cuts happened and our room flooded because of a bust pipe. it was one of those trips that started going wrong from the moment we landed in south Africa. But everything worked out brilliantly. We missed our connection to Victoria falls and had to spend the night there, but when we went to check in next day we had been upgraded to first class. So now I can safely say I've travelled first class even if it was a short flight  and even though we were happy with our room because of the leak we got a better room. I think karma was looking out for us on that trip. We still giggle about it now.

I've been really lucky to go on lots of great vacations, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would have been right after I graduated from either high school or college. We drove as a family all the way up to Edmonton, AB and stayed in the big mall there, then drove all the way back home, hitting a bunch of national parks on the way. Jasper, Kootenay, Yoho, Banff, Glacier, Tetons, and Yellowstone.

I can think of 2 right at the moment. One when I was 15 and my folks took myself and a girlfriend to Nags Head for most of the summer...well,the months of July and August. They rented a cottage right on the beach, complete with a kitchen and all,for July, and then a duplex for August, which was very close to the beach. So many wonderful places to visit and snoop...it was wonderful!I'd love to go back! The next year ,Mom and a girlfriend of hers took me to Florida and I got to spend 3 weeks with an old school chum of mine and her family while she took her friend to visit her family in St. Petersburg (I was in Avon Park). So awesome!

I can't count any of the places I've lived (and Italy and pretty amazing), but I envy anyone who has been to the Keys Mia6 Mia6 .
I am the same way. I was in the Army for eight years and for me it is more about the places I have lived rather than where I have gone on vacation. Vacations have always been more staycations even before that was a used phrase.

Niagara Falls. It was beautiful, it was fun crossing the border (this was pre-911 and Covid), and overall it was a very safe area.
If you say it was beautiful, then you must be referring to the Canadian side, as the American side was and is pretty much a dump. We used to go to the Seneca casino 3 or 4 times a year, but no more, and we live less than an hour's drive from the place.

I visited the horse shoe falls on the Canadian side. Very tourist-y, but, the views of the falls were spectacular.
