great, that you haven't had a cold/flu/etc this year!

i'll be looking forward to having less colds/more immunity as i move closer to/into my senior years!
You won't have to shave your legs as often, either, although you may sprout a mustache!!!  Getting old IS NOT for sissies!

:cross:   that that trend comes to an end for you, and you're able to enjoy an extended period of time without any illness!
Thank you for the well-wishes. I have a doctor's appointment soon to talk about it and see if I should go to a specialist in case I have an immune disorder. It's getting really ridiculous.

that's a good idea, to look into why you're having illnesses so often!

actually, i've never had to shave my legs -- really don't have but very fine and very few leg hairs. when i was much younger i had some darker hair (though very fine) on my upper lip area, but i haven't had that for years either.

, I have not been deathly sick this season. I did have a period of time where I felt as if I was fighting a cold: very tired, no energy, sleeping a lot, a bit of a cough, a bit of a scratchy throat; however, it did subside. It took a long time though; a few weeks.......I know a long time, but I now have the luxury of not having to work--poor  but no stress...and it seemed to physically help a lot. I was able to sleep and do what I wanted, when I wanted to. That seemed to be paramount in recuperation.

I do dread this time of year. A lot of flue, pneumonia, and bronchitis going around. I did have the pneumonia vaccine this year, along with the flu shot. I am still very wary of going out in public...but I cannot be a hermit!

I have a history of getting a bad case of asthmatic bronchitis and/or a bad sinus infection, yearly~~~ which results in bronchitis....so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
i definitely find that if i'm feeling stressed i'm more vulnerable to catching a cold/virus, as well as taking me longer to recover from it.

i'll keep
too, that you avoid asthmatic bronchitis and sinus infection this year!

I had a cold a little while ago but that's it. My husband, daughter and son have all been sick but I didn't get it at all. I called it "mom immunity". It seems like I don't get sick often since I became a mom 3 years ago.
'mom immunity' -- i like that!

Ughhh... My youngest child started kindergarten this year. I volunteer at least twice a week in his class room. I have been sick off and on since school started
(Think this happened when my oldest started school too; she's almost 19).

I just got over the flu after nursing my little one through it... We spent spring break being sick
awww, that's rough......being sick during spring break!

So far no
Cold season isn't over yet so there's still a chance of gettng sick. I had a massive cold last April that kept me out of work for a week.
another of us who's avoided having a cold/virus this winter -- so far!

That stomach bug was horrible. I couldn't eat anything for 4 days. All I could hold down was ginger ale. Lilith was so sweet. She stayed by me almost the entire time. I woke up a few times to her stroking my arm with her paw.
awww...that's so sweet of your Lilith! i would find that so comforting too!

No flu shot this year, as I was not in the office the day they had them at work, was busy taking care of Lucky (and couldn't be bothered to get it on my own). And *knock on wood* have not gotten anything really this winter. I thought last week I might be getting the flu, and a few other times thought I had a cold coming on. But it was like the gloom and doom weather reports - expecting the worst and then it was all sunny skies.
i'm so glad you haven't had a cold/virus this winter!

I haven't had the flu in years. Even when my parents (I live with them) had it I didn't get it. I have a super strong immune system and I have never had a flu shot nor do I plan to!

I do however get colds sometimes. You know fever, sore throats, congested etc. but they don't seem to last very long. I have sinus issues so get chronic sinus infections through out the year.

The time I did feel like I had the flu was after a tooth extraction in 2014. I couldn't get warm for 3 days, it was pretty scary and it was in the summer!
that's excellent, that you have a super strong immune system!

oh, wow! that does sound scary, not being able to get warm for 3 days -- during the summer!

I haven't gotten a cold this season yet. . .haha, now that I've said that, I'll probably get one
. I don't know if I've ever actually had influenza, but I have had some nasty colds, and it usually turns into bronchitis, so that stinks.

Not only are antibiotics overprescribed, they don't do anything against viruses anyway! Antibiotics only kill bacterial infections.
another who hasn't had a cold yet this season......

i was remembering where i'd heard that antibiotics only kill bacterial infections, and it dawned on me that i heard that from my vet! i'm certain that was a while back, while my little snick
was fighting CKD and was developing UTI's occasionally.

I have been lucky so far just one mild cold.  I don't get the flu shot though now that I am sixty  I should start getting them.  I usually go several years between having the flu.  The  last time I had it was 4 years ago.  That was a year that it hit particularly hard and it took me longer to get over it than usual.  I think some of that is my age as well as it being a particularly bad year so next fall I am going to start getting flu shots.
'just one mild cold' sounds pretty good!

I got the flu and pneumonia shot this year and did not get sick. When I was a kid I always got a stomach virus every year but I don't ever remember getting the flu because my mother always made us get flu shots. When I was 23 I got pneumonia and I thought I was going to dye. It was horrible and I hope I never get it again.
and another who didn't get sick this year!

i think i was around my early thirties when i had pneumonia. it was truly horrible for me too, and i try to be very careful around other people during the cold/flu season now because i never want to have it again either.

This winter was on the bad side for us.  No one was severely ill; but it just went from one person to another for about 2 months solid!

I switched to a new primary care doctor and it was a 5 month wait for my new patient appointment.  Don't you know my cold that had lingered turned to a sinus infection 2 weeks before that appointment was scheduled for!?!  A few days later I couldn't take it and went to a walk-in clinic. The doctor there said there had been some long running upper respiratory viruses.  It did take the full 10 days of antibiotics to feel better too.  I should have bought stock in Kleenex!
that does sound bad!

that upper respiratory virus must have been pretty serious!

I usually come down with a spring cold and then a fall cold. And they can be nasty. I smoked for 20 years before quitting and when I get a cold, the cold itself doesn't last real long. The cough, however, can go for 3-4 weeks after the cold is gone. Nasty, keep hacking. Ugh

Haven't gotten my spring cold yet, but Dear Richard informed me last night that he's got a bit of a scratchy throat. Not good. Not good at all.
He'll be getting over his cold by this weekend (Easter), just about the time the sore, scratchy throat hits me.
oh no! i hope that sore, scratchy throat misses you this time!

I had the longest upper respiratory infection, it lasted a good 3 weeks with the congestion, I had gotten a flu shot. Just as I gave in and got antibiotics it went away and I never took antibiotics. I work with the public and are exposed to all their germs.
you must have a good strong immune system, to have fought off that upper respiratory infection!
