recently, i switched to a new bank. this week i've been updating account info online at various websites. when updating one account, their customer service number even connected me to Ireland! very cool!
these days there's so much we are able to do online. so, for today's Question of the Day, let's talk about the things we do online, as well as delve a little into programs/apps that we use/enjoy.
On your computer, tablet, smart phone, or other device --
Do you pay bills online?
Are you a "gamer'? If so, what is your favorite game? (can be a game that came installed on your device, a game you installed yourself, or even a game that you play at a website -- like our popular 'Geography Game' here in 'The Cat Lounge' at TCS)
Do you do any daily crossword puzzles, sudoku, word search, or other at any website(s)?
How about books --
Do you read e-books?
Do you use an app, like Kindle for PC (or similar)? Or an app from your local library system?
Do you use a photo sharing website, like Photobucket or Picasa?
How about a 'screen saver' on your device? Do you have one?
Do you watch TV shows and movies, or listen to music online?
What about VoIP service? Do you use that to call friends or relatives?
How about texting, if you're on a smart phone?
Do you use the internet to figure out or learn how to --
Repair things?
Find recipes? Or learn how to cook/bake things?
Construct things?
Do you catch up on the news (local, national, or world) online?
Any other programs or apps that you like/enjoy or use a lot?
i'll start!
yes, i pay bills online. any bill that can be paid online, i prefer to pay online. i'm always careful to note my payment confirmation or transaction number.
i'm really not what i'd call a 'gamer'. however, there are a few games that came installed on my computer that i very much enjoy -- Mahjong Titans, FreeCell, and Solitaire. i installed a jigsaw puzzle game called BrainsBreaker, with which i'm also easily able to create jigsaw puzzles out of pretty much any photo, picture, etc i find on the internet. i enjoy that game very much too. i also enjoy very much the games in 'The Cat Lounge' here at TCS!
i don't usually find the time to do daily crosswords, and etc online. but i do have some websites bookmarked that offer those.
while i do enjoy the feel of an actual book in my hands to read, i tend to accumulate books until it ends up looking like they're trying to take over my home! so, i use the kindle for pc app on my computer to read books. i did have the app from my local library system on my computer so i could borrow e-books from them, but i didn't enjoy the time limit placed on the books i borrowed. that reminded me of my school days, when we'd be told to read up to a certain point in books. if i really enjoyed reading the book, i wanted to read further in it! these days i don't always find the time to read every day, so the time limit on borrowed books doesn't work well for me.
yes, i use Photobucket. i find it easy to upload, edit, and share photos from.
right now, i have a photo of my snick as the screen saver on my computer. i do switch the screen saver out every so often. here's the pic i'm using now --
i love this pic of my girl!
i watch tv show/movies as well as listen to music online, pretty much every day. i also 'stream' to my tv set via a roku.
recently, i looked into VoIP service, but that didn't end up working out for me. so now it's landline phone calls, emails, or letters for me.
texting...i know what it is and have texted before. maybe it's just me, but i really don't enjoy texting. but then, i prefer to be without phone when i'm outside doing things.
i use the internet to figure out how to do things, learn how to repair things, and find recipes and learn how to cook/bake things. it's a great resource! i've found plans for constructing planter boxes online, and then constructed them. i've found instructions on how to repair things online, and then either done the repairs myself or figured out that that particular repair is best left to the professionals. and almost all my recipes have been found online.
i wouldn't say that i 'follow' the news. but i do scan the headlines each day online, then read probably 4-6 or so news articles that catch my interest.
vueminder (lite). that's the free computer calendar app(-lication) i use. it's easy to use, and for a busy person it's a great help in keeping things organized. i'm even able to transfer older events over to a flash drive from vueminder, which i do every so often. i make note of many things in my calendar, some are important things which i'll need to look up again -- so i save past events. oh, and it's not an app but i just changed my 'theme' in my web browser, firefox. my previous theme was cats, domestic as well as wild/big cats pics. my new theme is called Red Cats (green flavor), here's a screenshot of the webpage for that add-on --
little kitty figures for the 'buttons'......so cute!
okay, now it's your turn!
