Hello everyone....

I was thinking today about how everyone has a spark of creativity... something they do to unwind, create beauty etc.

So today's question is...

Do you love to draw, do computer graphics, arrange flowers, embroider, write or something totally different? What do you do with your creative streak?

I love to do computer graphics. Years ago, it would mean making computer cards for holidays for people or working on graphics for people's birthdays and the like. Now, I'm working on some projects at work, which is interesting in itself.

Years and years ago, I went through a ceramic streak where I made several ceramic items: mugs for us, a beautiful canister set for my Mom (I have the remaining pieces now), a neat large owl, planters, things like that. Also went through a macrame stage with several hanging planters to show for that.

I cannot arrange flowers to save my life.

I used to love to paint, not brilliant at it mind you but it was my way of relaxing. Sometimes I write poetry too, as a person who suffers depression sometimes it is a way to unburden. I don't really have time for it all any more and my only form of writing is my assignments ( I am doing a degree in Humanities with an art history specialism) but to me that is my creative part now, doing the best I can x

I would love to be able to crochet, but not got anyone to show me how :(

I love making costumes, and sewing in general, but especially costumes. I love the planning and gathering of materials and figuring out how to make it look authentic.

My daughter is following the tradition now she's very into cosplaying. I had so much fun creating costumes for her over the years but now, at 14, she makes her own.

You could learn to do it, it's super-duper-easy! I figured it out on my own about 10 years ago, I was making a doll for my daughter and needed to crochet a "cap" for the head (you sew it on the head and use it to attach the yarn "hair"). There are lots of videos and tutorials on crocheting, seriously it's not hard at all!

I'd love to see any pictures of costumes.  Or of anyone's creations....
Unfortunately I don't have a creative bone in my body.

I just don't believe that... even the way you put things away in cupboards is creative.. or how you decorate your house, or even dress yourself!

I love anything you can do with a needle and thread. Quilting, knitting, crochet and needlepoint. Naturally I combine this love with my love for cats and they have a nice collection of blankets now.

Ashleigh, try watching a how to crochet video on you tube. It really is easy and fun.

Gardening for me. I am very creative with my gardens, or try to be. I think of it as a blank page and begin to fill it in except I do mine with flowers etc.

Mike, would you mind sharing some pictures of your gardens, please? I'd love to see them. We create small flowerbeds throughout our property and I'd love some ideas. (This spring, I'll be working on enlarging our moon garden.)

I would love to learn how to sew. There are so many things you can do with your house if you knew how to sew. My grandmother tried to teach me how to sew and how to crochet....I didn't want to be bothered. And I'm really sorry now. When I was in the eighth grade, we had Home Ec and they tried to teach cooking and sewing. I got a D in Home Ec.

Thank you! I didn't even think to look on youtube!

Mike, I would love to see pics too. We moved and have a lovely big garden, but I have no idea on what to do, what goes with what.. I'd like something not too time consuming and that I don't have to pull up each year and re-plant ( I'm not green fingered) so some inspiration would be lovely x

I used to write a lot when I was feeling creative. Stories, poems, etc. Lately it's been taking photos though. I haven't written in awhile. At least not like I used to. My grandma always said I could write a novel, I just haven't put forth the time or effort in my adult life.

I used to do a lot more in the way of needlework---I was a counted cross stitch addict.  Now, my eyesight has gotten to the point that I just can't do it anymore.  I'm hoping that once my cateracts are removed I'll be stitching up a storm again.

I make dolls and stuffed creatures in the primitive style.  I do some painting, I love woodworking, and I garden.

Oh, I used to do hook rugs! It's so relaxing, isn't it? Gosh, I haven't done anything like that in years.

At school I hated sewing so much I did Latin to get out of it!

Regrets here too... I hated sewing so much I did Latin to get out of it!

Yes, me too, and I'd forgotten all about it.  It really is relaxing.  I remember designing my own.

LOL. . .shoving things in however they fit, no house decorations, sweatshirts and jeans? I don't think I have a creative bone either.

I sort of know how to sew but it's purely functional. As in, I can follow a pattern. Or I used to anyway; it's been a while, but I'm sure I could figure it out again. But there's no way I could make anything up myself.

Photography. Focusing on what I see through the lens relaxes me. Gardening also helps me relax. We bought the house from two retiring Botany professors, so lots of gardening and landscaping to do here. I get some of my best thinking done while outside in the gardens.
