I had my tonsils out at the ripe old age of 38, after they had actually ruptured (don't fly if you have a severe sore throat!), and for about six to eight weeks afterwards, I would completely lose my voice in mid-sentence. My students thought it was hysterical.

Hope you get your voice back soon!

I`ve only lost my voice once that I remember. Vocal cords of steel, that`s me!

I do at least twice a year. I'm allergic to smoke and will get an ear infection, sinus infection, and lanergitis (a fancy word for loosing your voice, pretty much).

And when I get a cold I get a COLD and loose my voice for a good week.
