Good morning! TGIF!
And Happy Summer!!!
One of the things we enjoy doing during the summer is sitting outside at night and watching the night sky. I love to look at the stars and we enjoy going out in August during the Perseid meteor showers. Many years ago, we gave our son a telescope for Christmas and he and I spent hours outside at night looking at all kinds of things. He and I would check out all the constellations and the bigger stars; the telescope showed us two of Jupiter's moons and we could see a somewhat flattened version of Saturn...we're lucky that we're fairly rural; while we can't see the stars down around our horizon due to town lights, we can still see them overhead.
I used to come home from working second shift (at 11:00 at night), go out and jump in the pool, then lie on my back and watch the stars. Our son would come outside with me (at our house, nobody swims alone) and he and I would stay in the pool until 1 or 2 in the morning, just looking at the stars. After that, we were getting rather chilly and it would be time to get back in the house. Or we'd grab sleeping bags and go up in the hill out back and lie there for awhile. On the weekend, Rick would join us outside. More than once, we'd stay up all night and then make breakfast in the morning and then go to bed for a few hours.
I also took an Astronomy class in college and we had a lot of fun with the university telescopes on campus.
Rick and I will spend hours outside at night during the summer.
Do you look at the night sky?
