My spayed, indoor only, lazybones 3yr old was a bit overweight so on the advice of my vet I've been giving her strictly controlled portions of food (Wellness, half dry/wet).
In the last 8 weeks she's dropped from 12.5 lbs to 11 lbs and has maybe another .75 to 1 lbs to go.
Question is what should I do when she reaches her ideal weight? What's not entirely clear to me is when she reaches 10 lbs should I slightly increase the am't I'm giving her or keep it the same? I assume that the larger the cat the more food it needs but what about a larger cat that's now smaller? Would she reach a weight at which the am't of food I'm giving her would be adequate or would she continue to lose lbs even at her now lower weight?
Hope that's clear LOL.
(She's a real little trouper... she,s hardly complained or begged for extra food at all)
