There was a long involved thread here about how many cc's of this preparation or that should be given which left me totally confused, does anybody know the basic mg/kg of med that should be given?
If I know that I can go to the farm store and see what they've got. I have this kitten who is 12 weeks old now who was literally half dead when I found him, unconscious, hypothermic, dehydrated, and I put him in my egg incubator and fed him Gatorade with a syringe to rehydrate him, then Clavumox , it has been going on and getting better for 9 weeks now.
Anyway vet gave him worming med based on his weight at 3 week intervals and either it didn't work or he was reinfected (he has an alarming habit of licking the floor!) and last night the little guy vomited a live hookworm. So it was back to the vet again, 7th time in 9 weeks!
So I have the makings of a million dollar cat.
This leaves the other 10 pets (and innumerable ferals/barn cats visiting from the neighbors) rather neglected. I also have three dogs but they get Heartguard plus every month so I'm not worried about them.
I am trying to figure out if I can buy enough "stuff" to dose the horde without taking each animal to the vet to be weighed and dosed.
I'd rather do this at home. I can weigh them, convert the pounds to kg myself. I need to know how many mg/kg. I saw something about 20mg/kg but by the time that answer came up I couldnt figure out which drug they were talking about!!!
So please, how many mg/kg of pyrantel? Ivermectin? Anything else?
