Hey, we picked up our kitten (3 months old) about a month ago. He's an Exotic White and Himalayan mix named Blizzard. He's had soft stool to diarrhea pretty much since we've had him. The Breeder was feeding him "Fancy Feast; Salmon in Gravy" regularly, so we decided to slowly turn him into Wellness. Didn't go to well, he avoided it, regular soft stool and diarrhea continued. We took our kitten to the Vet last week for his booster shots and another de-worming (Vet thought the de-worming would end the diarrhea). Trying to get our kitten something BETTER than "Fancy Feast; Salmon in Gravy", we found that the "Fancy Feast; Flaked Fish and Shrimp Feast" was one of much better wet foods a kitten can eat. The Vet told us since it was still Fancy Feast, we could just switch him to it without a problem. He was eating about 3 cans of the 'Salmon and Gravy' a day, we feed him about 4 times a day; 6AM, 12PM, 5PM, 10PM, because our schedule pretty much works well with that, and he seems to like eating at those times. The new Fancy Feast, he seems to be iffy on sometimes, he'll eat 3 cans a day and lick the bowl, and sometimes he'll just let him carry through.
Regardless, today he was sitting on our bed and sneezed and he spilled a few drops of pretty watery diarrhea on our bed. My girlfriend said earlier he had pretty watery diarrhea. He continues to eat and play like normal, and drinks water out of his dish.
For some reason our vet is closed 2PM-3PM, so we are waiting to call them again, anyone have any ideas what this could be?
At the same time, is it good to continuously feed him wet food like we are? I keep reading about people who feed dry food with small amounts of wet mixed in, then I see conflicting information about dry food being unhealthy for a kitten.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
