Hello everyone.
Been posting around a little bit, so prob should say hello to you all. My name is Laura, I am presently owned by two 5 year old calico sisters from the same liter. Cindy and Ginger are the beasties names. While not being raised in an abusive physicaly (I hope) home it was definatly an odd one. Litle Cindy is a love and got all the attention while Ginger, who has a bit of an attitude got neglected from all the love. Poor thing, I have been working with her for about a year now and she has come quite far. She was not used to being petted, or loved on, she is now! Though sometimes I see this look in her eye thinking this human must be nuts with all the lovey dovey talk and kissing barrages! (could not and WOULD not get my face anywhere near her when I first got her) Cindy I dont know about. She seems to more just tolerate being loved on more than liking it, she never purrs, or seek out affection. The are both just wonderful though, despite my now sprained ankle from tripping over my own feet after steping on Gingers tail and her throwing a small hissy fit. Ah well.
Previous cats I have had were MaoMao, 16 year old mostly outdoor cat I took in from a neighbor who didn't want to care for anymore in her golden years. Wonderful lovey dove of a girl, snuggled up with me wherever I happened to be sitting, laying down, stopped moving for a minute, lol. She was with me for three years before she crossed the bridge.( Oh, she was a long hair grey tabby)
Taco was my other kitty, a short hair calico who came from a very abusive home. It was tough working with her. Her former owners had another cat, a ginger who they gave all the attention to and neglected Taco. They would pick her up and pet her, then hit her. Then they would throw her when she would hiss and bite at that (who wouldn't!?) It was very hard to socalize her from that as she associated petting with being so hurt. She never did become a "friendly" cat, but she did learn to trust I was not going to hurt her, and even let me give her belly scritches now and then if she happened to be sleeping upside down. I don't know what happend to her. When my marrage broke up I could not take her with me, the ex said he gave her to good home, I hope he was not lying to me (I don't talk to the SOB, havent in 2 years now, long story, but lets say I have a reason for wanting to help the abused)
Well thats me, also have had a menagere (sp?) of other animals over the years, loved them all.
I will stop rambling on now as I have to replace the ice pack on my ankle.
