Anyone have any advice in helping to prevent UTIs in cats? After having a few days of straining, I brought my Venus into the vet. The urine test came back positive for a UTI, and with the amount of bacteria in her bladder, she seemed to have thought she had the UTI for a while, even before I got her a month ago. She was given antibiotics, so she should be good soon, but I was curious if anyone has any preventative care that they give their cats to help lessen the likelihood of UTIs? The vet said that there's not a whole lot than can be done besides keep the litter box clean (obviously), and that sometimes it just has to do with how low cats squat to their litter, which Venus does squat very low to her litter when urinating. But I'd like to think that there could be some other things that could help a cat prevent a UTI? Needless to say, as much as I love my Venus, I would like to avoid another $230 vet bill the anytime soon. Lol!
