So my cat Charlie survived his urinary blockage and bladder surgery! How can I stop this from happening again? He was already on Royal Canin SO dry food except for a brief stint of eating Fancy Feast about a month ago. I will find out exactly what kind of stones he had in about 2-3 weeks but I'm worried about him blocking again in the meantime.
Tips I've collected so far:
wet food only and add some water
Drinkwell fountain
no fish flavors
distilled water only
try to de-stress his environment but this is hard because I can't bring back his friend Spike who died of cancer 3 weeks ago Going to try Feliway spray.
Any other ideas??
Also does anyone know of any studies that show likelihood of a cat re-blocking? My vet said since she removed the stones, he should be ok for at least 2 weeks but the internet is saying they can within days?
Also any info on how long these stones generally take to form?
Thanks!!
Erin and Charlie
