I'm calling first thing in the morning to try and get her in I'm doing the warm compresses I feel so bad she seems so relived when there on but when I go to change it she starts meowing I can only imagine how painful they probably are

I know. [emoji]128533[/emoji] it's good you noticed.

Will your vet possibly let you pick up an antibiotic rather than drag her in? The newborns should really stay home.

I just called the emergency number to my vet and vet explained it to him he said its definitely that and he said the same thing it would be rather hard to drag her and both babies in for something that can be treated quick and easy and he asked if I have any antibiotics here at home and I said yes I have amoxisilin from when my son had strep and he gave me a dosage and said call back in 2 days and see how she's doing

I mixed it with some wet food and put little chunks of lunch meat in it and she went to town on it happy she actually took it for me

You know you can also just dose it into her mouth with a syringe too, right? Though with food it's easier.

Is it 2X a day?

If you are giving more than one dose a day, make sure they are spaced out evenly around the clock.  You want to keep the dose at it's optimum level.

Unfortunately, moms with small litters tend to get mastitis because some of the nipples go unused and get inflamed. If she has fever this first dose will start to bring it down. Use the compresses more tonight though too.

Okay. As long as she eats the food she will get what she needs. Let us know how she is tomorrow!

I will she must be feeling a little decent cause she doesn't seem restless as the babies are eating like she did earlier

The compresses and food probably helped. She will improve quickly, but do give her the full course so the infection completely clears, because it can spread through the mammary glands.

Glad she's more settled now!

She probably does not feel well. Do you have a probiotic to mix into her wet food? The meds may be upsetting her tummy.

It takes about 5 doses of the antibiotic for them to really turn the corner.

Is she feeding/cleaning the kittens? Does she need your help to supplement or clean them?

I don't but I'll go out and get some she's feeds them but only for a minute at a time and she's been cleaning them pretty good I know its because she's not feeling well cause she was a great mama before this so I'm hoping she starts feeling better I contacted my vet and he said watch her and them for a little bit if she keeps leaving the nesting box and isn't showing much interest see if kitty maybe able to nurse them til she starts feeling better and if I do have to have kitty nurse them watch her to make sure she doesn't get overwhelmed by the kittens

Honestly, I would not put them on Kitty. Her newborns need all her milk and colostrum right now. And I think it's too many! And Tabby's are bigger.

I would feed Tabby's two with a syringe. And they will probably need supplementing if she's only letting them nurse for a minute at a time. Poor Tabby. Poor kittens.

She's feeding them at the moment I think she's starting to feel better I'm hoping she gets better real soon and everything goes back smoothly like they were going I feel so bad for her I can only imagine the pain and the kittens nursing on her also I'm hoping her pain is easing up with her meds

Okay. She should improve through the weekend. You can apply olive oil to help with chapping too.
