Sassy has started bleeding. It is bright red. It doesn't appear to be a lot. I called the emergency vet and he said it is normal as long as it's not an excessive amount. What do you all think?

And its over 24 hours after delivery?   Im not happy with it.

It depends if it is  red coloured water - which is normal and common, or if it is really living blood...

but this vet wasnt too worried you say (good you did phoned), lets hope it stops soon.

Observe closely, and see if it stops soon, or if it continues.    Take temp in her forearmpit, so you can notice if temp drops (alarming of course).

Good luck!

I'm not either. It's bothering me. Especially because she started breathing faster about 2 hours after she had her last kitten and she felt warm. I did take her to the vet and had xrays/exam done on her because she was still breathing fast 2 hours later. They said she was fine but they gave her oxytocin, Metoclopramide, penicillin, and praziquantel. They also gave me a special food to feed her.

Get home kmr or goat milk, dropper or small syringe,  glucose sugar (brand name may be Dextrose), or at least honey.    so you are prepared to step in if she needs relieving of her nursing duties...

If the gears become unused now,  you can always give the kmr to her instead when the kittens got bigger and demands more of her milk resources.   :)

Very good you do have help from vets.  Exemplary.

"The secured is protected by God Himself",   as the proverb says.

*vibes!*

After watching her for several hours last night it I could see that the bleeding was very little. She was acting fine as well. Today she is cleaned up with no sign of any bleeding and is acting her normal self. I feel confident that the vet was right.

They are all doing great. We do love watching the kittens and Sassy. I'm pretty sure we have 4 boys and 2 girls. 1 of the girls is the adopted baby. I didn't want to do the kitten thing but I am so glad I did. I just love them all so much. I hate that I can't keep any of the kittens.

Sassy's nipples are raw. It's so bad the skin is peeling off of them and it hurts her to nurse. She is still nursing. Is there anything I can do to help them?

I took her to the vet and they said she's fine. He said she will be sore for the first week or 2 but should be fine after that.

Update on Sassy and the kittens...the kittens are almost 4 weeks old (Friday). Sadly at 11 days old we lost the little tan kitten and the black kitten. They had aspirated pneumonia. Around 2 weeks the remaining 3 started losing weight so I started tube feeding then, then syringe feeding, and we are now bottle feeding them. Sassy still takes great care of them and nurses them. She just doesn't produce enough milk to feed them enough.

I have some concerns with the smallest kitten. I think he is blind and if not blind then there is something else wrong with his eyes. I am adding pictures, if anyone has seen this or maybe knows what is wrong please let me know.

Not yet. I have just noticed them this week. I figured I would have the vet check all of their eyes when I take them in at 6 weeks for shots. His mama, Sassy, is cross eyed. That's why I have been checking their eyes.

this is my Lilly about 4 weeks into pregancy, I had to take a sneak pic cause she never sits still if she sees the camera. I came
on this site cause I was worried that I couldn't feel the kittens moving yet, but after reading the posts here Im not so worried any more so thank you all :)
