I'm trying to figure this IBD thing out and I'm finding answers here thank goodness. I'm wondering if anyone else noticed a rough looking coat while taking prednisalone? He started 5 days ago and almost immediately his luxurious coat looks dull and it's matting . Never has had this. . Hes stopping prednisalone tonight per vet. Just wondering if anyone else had this experience?

I wouldn’t in my case say it’s matted exactly, on the whole it’s glossy and fine. (He’s a short hair). However in the sunlight the very ends of his fur remind me faintly of Grampa Munster’s ear hair…sort of like a cattail getting ready to go to seed. I guess if you are stopping pred you have little to fear. My cat’s been on it almost a year and is 17, so, some of this could be simply old age. I am told older cats get lazy about washing their rumps, which seems to be true…he has a tiny rough patch there.

Chelsea was on it, even before we started the chlorambucil, but I did not notice any hair changes.
