I just had my 1 year old cat spayed a couple of days ago...here in Egypt, you take the cat back home the same day...she didn't eat, nor drink much & no bowel movements...the day after surgery she went back to the vet for a check up & he gave her 5 injections - 2 antibiotics (Ceftriaxone & Gentamycin), 2 for stomach problems (Ranitidine & Metoclopramide) & a cortisone (Azium)...on the 2nd day post-surgery he gave her 4 injections - 2 antibiotics (Ceftriaxone & Gentamycin), Metoclopramide & Azium...on both days he remarked the incision site was clean & free of any signs of inflammation...he then wrote me a prescription for Prednisone 5 mg 1/2 a tablet once daily & Ceftriaxone 250 mg, 1 ml once daily intramuscular - both for 6days until he saw her next...my question is are all these meds required since she doesn't have any signs of infection, nor inflammation?
