We adopted two kittens from the Animal Protective Leauge a couple of months ago. The male cat is large and healthy, although very skittish. The female is very small and we noticed she had a dirty bottom and some leakage when we brought her home. We took a stool sample back to the APL, they said it was a parasite and gave us medication for both cats. We gave all the medication over 10 days and she was still having issues, but was a bit better. We took her into our vet and they diagnosed her with ring worm. We gave her all of that medication.
She's still small, but high energy, friendly and playful. Her and her brother get along well, they cuddle, groom and play. She uses the littler box to urinate, but keeps pooping outside of the box. We've moved the box, bought a second box, keep it very clean, clean the areas where she poops on the floor as clean as we can. She favors the tile floor right outside the litter box, but also poops on the hardwood behind the TV stand and occasionally on the carpet (a very open and public area). Her poop is firmer than it was before her medication but still is never quite solid. She walks slightly bow legged, but I have never seen or heard any other signs of discomfort. She jumps, climbs, and plays. She has a healthy appetite and drinks plenty of water.
I'm at a loss of what to do next? I want her to be happy and healthy, and we need the pooping on the floor to stop, I should mention it is very strong smelling and she herself is a bit smelly too. Her brother has had no symptoms or issues other than being very skittish. Any ideas?
