My 3 year old cat was bloated and in visible distress so we took him to an emergency clinic, this was 4 days ago. They said he had crystals that were keeping him from urinating and he needed an immediate catheter to flush out the crystals. They kept him for almost 72 hours and then yesterday morning they called saying he was ready to go home with a pain killer and pills to help relax his urethra. He seemed to be calm and not in pain until this evening he started urinating blood and leaving small droplets of urine and blood behind him where ever he goes. Is this normal after having a catheter in for that long or could it be from dehydration? We're hesitant to take him back to the same clinic since they're overly expensive and known for not the best care, but they're the only 24 hour clinic around. I've been giving him water through a syringe for tonight but I'm pretty sure he's still dehydrated. He also has shown absolutely zero interest in food (both wet and dry).
