Hello everyone, just looking for some advice on what may be the latest addition to our family...
We first noticed Carrera a few months ago. The woman living across the street from us abandoned some cats many months ago and this awesome lady has been coming to feed and care for them every day. She feeds the cats the woman left behind that are living inside the home and she also leaves food out for some strays that hang out around the neighborhood. Carrera is one of those strays, but Carrera isn't like most strays because while he is a bit skiddish he will still walk right up to you if you try to coax him over and he loves to be petted.
The lady caring for the cats just found out recently that the house the cats are living in is going to be foreclosed on and she is going to have to move the cats that are living inside there. She asked me if my fiance and I would feed Carrera when she moved the other cats since she will not have to come over this way anymore. I agreed, but I absolutely hate the thought of a cat living outside.
I am very willing to accept Carrera into our home and have made him a vet appt for next week. When Carrera was out earlier today I had my fiance coax him onto our screened in back porch with some food, and he is still there right now. He seems a bit scared but once we pet him he seems to calm down.
I have to keep him seperated from our other cats until he goes to the vet and gets a clean bill of health, but my question is whether it would be easier for Carrera to acclimate if we left him on our screened in porch or brought him inside to stay in one of our spare bathrooms. I don't want to scare him too much bringing him inside too quickly, but I feel a little bad just keeping him on our porch as well.
If anyone has any thoughts or advice on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
