My sister's cat is taking a "bathroom stance" around the house but isn't actually peeing or pooping. She is taking him to the vet, but her appointment is later on so just wanted to see if anyone has seen their cat do this just to give her some info before. She hasn't noticed any odd peeing or pooping anywhere other than litter box. She's been trying to catch if he's gone in the litter box but wirh another cat it was hard to tell who's was who's after she checked when she got home.

If he’s trying to pee and can’t, it may be a urinary obstruction. If he’s blocked, that’s an emergency situation and he should be seen immediately.

There’s an article you and your sister might want to read (link below), but here’s one of the most important paragraphs:
Complete obstruction of the urethra is a life-threatening emergency. A blocked cat can die within 24-72 hours and it’s a slow and painful death. If you see your cat straining to urinate with no urine coming out, you should get it to a vet ASAP. Go to an emergency clinic if it’s the weekend or the middle of the night. This is one of those situations where you simply cannot wait.
