Hey all 2 days in a row my youngest boy Jabbles (8yo) has pooped on our rug in our livingroom. Yesterday it was like diarrhea so I I figured just an accident (and I don't know for sure which cat did it). Today Jabbles jumped off the couch right in front of us and pooped on the rug. It was a bit soft. It's not unusual for him to have digestive upset because he tries to eat everything and even gets into the garbage to search out people food. I'm kind of freaking out. He has lots of odd behavior issues and I just really can't deal with pooping and peeing issues now too.....
Why might he suddenly be pooping on rug? Think it's just tummy upset?

I have found that when a cat stops using the litter box as you describe it is often related to pain. I would highly suggest taking him into the vet to determine the source of the loose stools (food or a medical condition) and whether they could be causing him some kind of pain. I always like to rule out medical before trying to figure out if it is behavioral and what might be causing it.

I hope he feels better soon.
