So, it’s me again. We’ve been having issues with our kitty and his bowel problems. We’ve take two trips to the vet. No worms, doc gave him a shot to settle inflammation in his bowels. Food has been regulated (it had been changed but that was a couple weeks ago). I’ve been giving him pumpkin to assist with consistency of his stool. Stool is formed, a little mushy right at the end. This morning he jumped in my bed post litter box, and smeared poop on my sheet. A little while later he was walking and I noticed a little poop was actively coming out of his butt. I’ve called the vet and they said give it to the end of the week for the shot to keep working— we went last Thursday. I’m just at a loss for what to do. He’s playing normally, eating normally, drinking water, acting 100% normal. We just can’t seem to get over the poop issue. And his litter box is clean, we clean it daily because we thought that was part of the problem— that he was particular about the cleanliness of his litter box. It’s like he’s leaving the litter box before he’s done, or he’s starting to go before he makes it there, and he’s not cleaning his bottom appropriately even though I’ve seen him groom himself many times. I’m not sure what to do.

Has he ever had a tail pull injury or any kind of spinal damage. I think if what you have tried with your current vet doesn't work, you should seek out a specialist or ask for a referral to one.

We’re on our way to a different vet, I wasn’t impressed with how we were treated. We’ve recently moved to a new city but I’ll gladly make the 45 minute drive to my old vet if it means my baby being treated better and then letting me go back with him. He had diarrhea this morning after this post so I thought it best to take him in

That's exactly what I was thinking too. Sounds like he's either not feeling things happening or for some reason the sphincter muscles have got weak. Definitely needs investigating and glad that his owner is taking him back to their original vet.

He has a slight fever, they’re running their own fecal to check for worms. Will update as we know more!

Okay, no parasites. They gave me Purina EN food and fortiflora to help set his belly right. They also gave him an antibiotic shot. Hopefully he won’t have to stay on this food forever.. it’s $45 for a 6 pound bag 🥲

Gosh! Here in the UK an 11lb bag (5kg) is $43 or in our money £34.49. Vets certainly know how to charge!
