Hello, my cats tail got covered in candle wax earlier today. Using warm water, coconut oil, and shampoo I was able to get out the majority of it. However, she still smells strongly of the fragrance from the oil. I'm worried she will ingest it. Do you know if it could he toxic even if all of the wax has been washed away?

The scent is strong so I'm not sure if theres really just a small amount remaining, I'm also not sure how much can be ingested before it becomes toxic.

It's really impossible to know. Keep an eye on her and if she starts acting strange in any way, particularly vomiting, then take her in to be seen. Emergency vets should be open 24/7. And from now on, I would suggest NO lit candles around cats, whether they are scented or not. Any open flames are dangerous, in my opinion, as you have just discovered . :alright: Hopefully your cat wasn't burned by that hot wax!
