Sorry for the duplicate thread... I'm new here and kind of just getting used to the site... I've posted this question on several different websites and still haven't received any definitive answers so I'm panicking :S Posted it about an hour ago on this same site, but in the wrong section. Didn't get any answers yet so let me rephrase :S
My cat gave birth to 5 kittens 10 days ago. They were checked by a vet the day after and deemed healthy. I've read that kittens double their birth weight some time within the first week... Well, these kittens haven't yet, although one is starting to open her eyes. They are all pretty small, ranging in weight from 130 grams - 160 grams. Is this normal or should I be worried? By the way, their father is a British blue crossbreed and their mother is a small white tabby. Both are indoor cats. Does breed have anything to do with size or am I doing something wrong?? Any help/advice would be appreciated.
PS - their mother is booked in for a spay when the kittens are 12 weeks (fingers crossed they make it to that age :'() so no spay lectures, please!
Oh yes... and their mother hardly eats. Is this normal? I'm pretty much out of pocket from buying her so many different foods and she refuses them all. How often should a lactating cat eat???
