okay. I'm posting on behalf of a friend who recently went to Bangladesh. She is still there. She's now living in a rural village with some family.

apparently before she got there, (maybe a week or 2 ago is when she got there, the kitten was there from 1 week prior), this little kitten kind of sneaked into her father's home and decided he's going to live there. since he's been there, he hasn't left, and doesn't even venture outside. He, according to my friend, is SUPER tiny, so we're guessing a month - two months  old (i will post whatever pics i have below). When he first came into the house he was very small, underweight, and could not even walk on his own. the house hold has been taking care of him. they made a litter box for him (cardboard box with sand and dirt). He uses it on his own very well apparently. They feed him cooked chicken, cooked fish, and some rice. they also give him milk (which i advised against, but apparently he hasn't had any diarrhea as of yet)

They named him Oreo.

The place where they live has NO vets (its a village), and i'm not sure if the nearest city might even have a vet either...as having pets is not really that common in Bangladesh (from what I remember, I haven't been there in over 10 years honestly), and even if the nearest city did, its really far from where she is right now (a few hours driving + ferry).

The cat is very afraid of humans. He plays around the house, and is very curious and forthcoming, and loves to explore, but, he does not let any humans come near him (i'm guessing he's a feral kitten, abandoned by momma, cus he was probably the runt of her litter).

She emailed me asking for help on what can be done for him. He has patches of skin missing on his hind leg...and some kind of rash looking thing on his face, right above the nose...

what can she do to help the poor kitten?

i'm suspecting the kitty might have ringworm...but I don't know..could be that he got hurt while he was still living outside...

She send me a video of him (which i'm having trouble uploading), but he jumps around and plays like a normal kitty. in a little snippet of the video i saw him grooming himself..he seems to be behaving like a normal cat otherwise..

I suggested to her to try and clean the areas with warm water and a rag, and if there is anything available like a neosporin, or some type of antibacterial ointment, to rub it on the little guy, and try to hold him down while it sits and gets absorbed on his skin...

please take a look at the pics below...any other suggestions?

***i've already posted this in the cat health forum, however maybe those of you dealing with strays/ferals might be able to help as well..thank you***

It does look like it could be ringorm or another fungus.  You could probably get one of the fungucides for athlete's foot or jock itch (all fungal conditions) such as lotrimin, clortrimazole, miconazole etc. and rub it into the affected areas.  The patch on the foot looks like it's healing already since it isn't crusty or scaly.  When he gets healthier from getting good food and less stress, his own immune system will probably wipe out the fungus.

hmm okay. i'm going to ask her if they're able to find any type of anti fungal meds/ointment where she is.

Thanks for the help!
