Hello.... I am desperate. My husband and I found a stray kitten outside about 7 weeks ago and decided to take him in. We currently have a 4 yr old male cat (neutered) who has been with us the past 3 yrs after we adopted him from the shelter. We followed the protocol, kept them separate. New Kitten, Duke, was pretty sick, and tiny so we kept him in his own room for at least 3 weeks, we did let them see each other and sniff around week 2, but never interact. He has had Veterinary attention, and is now healthy, happy and thriving. We continued to move forward with the integration, and they started eating meals together no problem, and would occasional bird watch at the window and door. I continued to increase supervised times, and would intervene when play got too rough. Fast forward to week 7, and they still cannot be left alone together as Perry, our resident cat, keeps stalking him trying to pin him down and bite his back. He also makes this odd meowing sound while he is doing it. Duke doesnt appear to be in pain, and doesnt make any noise. They behavior keeps getting worse, and I don't know what to do. Duke will now be about 14 weeks old, per the vet, and Im wondering if he should be neutered? They said to wait until 5 months, but im at my whit's end. They also play at times, and Perry does get pretty rough on occassion, and i always worry he will hurt the kitten. I have 4 cat trees in the house now to try to give them space, lots of new toys, 3 litter boxes, 2 sets of food and water dishes. I play and give attention to both cats, but im constantly playing referee! Oh, im also 7 months pregnant, hormonal and really want happy cats before I have to take care of a new born
