Most strips will measure in .5 increments. There are a few like the Phenix brand that measure in .25 increments. But I found the Phenix brand a little hard to read.

thanks for the info. after researching, I opted for the pHYDRION Vivid tape. It reads from 5.5 to 8.0 in .5 increments. Hopefully I can get more accurate answers. I also read that it's better to gather the liquid & then put a few drops on the paper. What I was doing was sticking my hand under their body when they pee. I tested first to make sure the litter didn't alter the result & it didn't but I read if it's under a stream it can wash some chemicals off???

Anyway I will get a shallow little dish & get a sample that way.

I think it may just get harder to read the strip because some colors can blur/blend. I don't know for sure because my kitty would overshoot the litter box and I just gathered pee from the outer rim. (Her litter box was inside a Rubbermaid storage bin for that reason.)
