Hello! I have just joined this forum to see if anyone might be able to help me out. It may be a bit too late to look for a solution, but I figured I might as well try.
We got our two siamese mix siblings from a litter of four about eight or nine years ago. Their mother was a purebred siamese, and the father(s) is/are unknown. The biggest problem is with our male, Gwazi. He is very aggressive towards everyone, including myself, with the exception of my sister (who "owns" the cat) and my mother. He occasionally lets me pet him, but mostly just glares and hisses if I try. I usually just leave him alone unless he is laying on something that I need. When guests come over, he sits at their feet and hisses and growls at them until we shut him in a room, where he will then sit and bang at the door until you open it again. My cat, Sheikra, is occasionally aggressive with my sister, and will hide and hiss when guests are over. I'm not really worried about her, as she doesn't bother people, but I am looking to find a solution to stop Gwazi from acting out on guests when they come and not have him annoy them by banging on doors (they are all very loose and rattle when shaken.) Is there a way to train him out of this behavior? I am pretty sure it is more territorial than fear, as he always has his ears erect, whiskers forward, and tail flicking. No hair is raised on his back or tail. I don't expect him to start liking anyone by any means, but the active aggression towards guests needs to stop before someone is bit (he has lunged at my friend before).
Thanks so much,
Canis
