I see you've gotten what appears to be some very knowledgeable advise on your other thread concerning this overdose.  Has your Vet implemented any of those things yet?
Not yet, as this is weekend. We are collecting all the information and will email the vet. On Monday we will push them to do something.

I want to use this post to thank all of you. Our family vet said without our persistence Dusty would not be able to go that far. I'd like to say without your's suggestions, encouragement, and warmheartedness, both Dusty and we might not be able to persist this long. Many time before we called or visited the vet, we read the posts here carefully and took notes. With these notes we attempted to manage a number of sufferings our vet didn't take initiative to deal with. During a time like this words cannot express how much your help means to us.

Some of your suggested taking legal action against the specialist vet for the overdose. At this stage I may hold it on. Firstly it is not easy to prove legally the direct link between the overdose and the death. We called the Poison Control Hotline and they suggested to take Dusty's body to a university vet school for autopsy. That's something we definitely would not do. Secondly, financial compensation is not our primary concern. We want to make sure this sort of accident will never happen again to other cats. I am thinking to file complaints with relevant professional associations, including the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association. I wish some disciplinary action can be taken to ensure the correction of the problem.

I am not sure if it is appropriate to discuss the complaint issue in this forum. If not, I may start a new thread in a different forum of this site. To do so, may I ask a favor from the Moderators: could you send me a warning instead of closing this thread immediately? After I start a new thread I hope to leave a link here. Thanks.

Just a note about holding them accountable, and reporting them through the appropriate state board etc is certainly a good way to go should you wish to pursue it, but my understanding even in respect to human medicine (although i'm not a lawyer) is that a mistake that causes injury or death does not by itself constitute malpractice.

Again though i am very sorry for your loss and there terrible experience.

I'm glad you posted again, because I wanted to express my condolences on the loss of beautiful
Dusty
.   I saw your other thread, and saw that it was already closed, which is what happens every time a beloved cat passes
I kept looking in "Crossing the Bridge" so I could express my feelings, but didn't see anything.

She was a beautiful, beautiful cat, and I'm sure you and your wife miss her with all your heart.

I would pursue filing a complaint if I were you mainly because they didn't take ownership for their error and just sent her home without trying to fix the problem.  If they had tried to do something once the error had been discovered, that would be another story, but from what you said, it appears they didn't even try.  To me, that's negligence

Again, you have my deepest sympathies.

We will close this thread now as Dusty has passed.  The TCS Team offers our deepest condolences.  Please consider posting a tribute to Dusty in our Crossing the Bridge forum, here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge

If you decide to start another thread about filing a complaint, we can post a link to it here for you.
