Today my cat, Shelly, was spayed. When I picked her up, the vet informed me not to let her kittens nurse on her (her kittens are eating solid foods and drinking their own water but still nurse on Shelly) for about a week until all the onsior was out of her system. Now on one of the papers I was given, it states that onsior last for only 24 hours. My question is: How long does onsior actually last for? I don't want to reunite them, have one of them nurse and get sick or possibly die. TIA!

Kittens usually nurse a new in 20 hours.
So this with whole week is probably to say she wont be fit for fight at least a week.
Which is common with home girls. Ferales have a quicker recovery as they have good healing meat.
I suppose onsior is some medicine given at spaying?

Of course as the kittens no longer Needs the nursing to survive dont take any risks. But it shouldnt take a full week.

Onsior is an anti-inflammatory. It won’t hurt the kittens.

Your vet is very conservative. If your cat does not want to nurse she will hiss at the kittens and let them know.

Most cats are fine to nurse right away after a spay.
