Vet bills -- this year so far -- $1,000. Last year it was around $200.

Food -- $1 per can for Snickers; 2 cans per day. 60cents per can for the other cats, 2 cans per day. Around $1,200.

Litter - about $200 a year for all cats

Supplies - Don't really need supplies I guess, already have cat trees, carriers, leashes, water bowls... I'm "established".

Toys - furry mice, catnip, scratching pads & treats: around $50 a year maybe?

So in the $2,000 to $3,000 range if there are no illnesses, but 4 of my cats are over 12 yrs old... and I wuv them dearly... sooooooo....

I was up around $700 each, but then realized how many unplanned vet trips I've made, so I said $1000 x 3 = $3000 total, but I wouldn't ask for even a penny of it back!!!!! They're my boys.

The average (throwing out top four and bottom four answers) ended up being ~$1050 per year. And since $1000 was the most popular answer, the average around here is about $1000 per year of expenses for each cat.

I have only had Bella since October, so 7 months. So far:
Adoption - $40
Toys/Supplies/Bed/3 scratching posts- $350
Litter - $120
IBD surgery, hospital & subsequent vet visits - $2800 (YIKES!!!)
Special diet & supplies - $175

So round it up to $3500 .. sigh, but she is worth it!!

Vets bills are what's killing me.
LOL. The food is not too much-about 40 $ a month, I would say. I could deal with that. Toys-not much, I could deal with that. Cat condos-not to bad, I got several for 30-40 $ each. But the vet bills-grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Just one visit to the vet when cat had diarrea-100 $. Another visit because he got bit on the head by my other cat-another 80$. When I got him, he got sick -take him to the vet, run tests -700 $. Vet never found anything, of couse. Could have bought me a nice used car for all that money I spend on the vet.
