I saw Wicked a few years ago when it first came to Chicago (before they made it permanent) and I absolutely loved it! I had read the book first, and I do like the book better than the play.

To reconcile it for myself I decided that the ending of the play was actually in Glinda's head; that she imagined it that way to lessen her grief until a time when she could adaquately face it. I do wish it was closer to the book, especially the parts about Elphaba's parents.Originally Posted by Sandtigress
Not to hijack the threadbut the musical is really nothing like the book! Its like they took the same cast of characters with some basic traits alike and a very basic plotline and then made two entirely different things with it!
You can still get the book for cheap. It has 2 covers: the original: http://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Life-Ti...03/ref=ed_oe_p and the one with the broadway show poster: http://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Times-W...08/ref=ed_oe_p. This one has pictures from the show. There's also another edition that is the size of a regular paperback (the others are somewhat oversized paperbacks), but I don't know if it has the pictures or the drawings from the original bookOriginally Posted by KittKatt
I didn't know that there was a book, though. Anyone want to sell me theirs for cheap??
