My interns get less than that and survive fine and they go to London.

There are plenty of cheap places to eat and shop

Sainsburys & Tescos are the big supermarkets (and groceries are way cheaper back home than here!)

If he can find a Wetherspoons pub by him they do cheap meals and deals where a meal and a beer is 5 pounds or less (under $10) and basic meals where you can get 2 for 6 pounds (about $10) but you pay for drinks (and they do that every day)

First of all my apologies, I talked about Euros and they are converting to British pounds here.

The current exchange rate is 1 USD = 0.514760 Pounds. Which means that $50 = 25.43 Pounds. It makes things more expensive when you are thinking about dollars.

On Tesco's site, they are advertising a dozen roses for 19.39 Pounds. In US dollars these roses would be $37.66.

Like Anakat said, it is just expensive

Where my mum lives:
Average Cost: £305,437
Detached: £828,275
Semi-detached: £478,195
Terraced: £419,698
Flat: £241,586 (apartment)

Be glad he is in Wales and not London!

Which can be very difficult if you are always eating at restaurants and don't know the area.

Oh well Anne I guess I should shut up and be glad we have the extra money
Because this is a very good job
DH was telling me the guy he's rooming with really doesn't have any money he has a wife and 3 kids so that's what's tough they just don't have the extra money so some of them could use some extra while away, then you have some of the married ones 30ish going out every night
