Hi all,
My husband and I adopted a kitten Saturday from our local AARF. Oliver is 12-13 weeks old and such a cuddly kitten at least with me. He has been in foster care since he was very young and has dealt with some health issues. He is currently taking Arithromycin for an upper respiratory infection. The foster mom said when she first got the litter she treated for ear mites. The next morning she went in the foster kitten to check on the kittens and this kitten was unresponsive and limp. She said she grabbed clothes and rushed him to the vet. They flushed his system and used some kind of charcoal to absorb the mite medicine from his body that he had gotten on his paws and ingested. The little fellow barely survived. It took four days for him to begin to come around. She said she held him constantly during that time and has been very protective of him since. You can tell that he is very used to be handled. He is shy but doesn’t resist being picked up and will rub his chin on mine and nuzzle my nose with his head. He will softly touch my face with his paws. Purring softly all the time he is in my lap. At first if I set him down he would go back under the desk but now he will stay in the room with me though he goes under the desk if I leave the room. He is not playing much just settling in. He is eating and drinking but hasn’t pottied yet. I have looked all around the office where we have him set up and checked the litter box but so far nada. I have 3 dogs (Lab/Aussie mix and 2 Havanese) who have never been around a cat and Oliver has never been around dogs. I figure the introduction needs to happen very slowly after Oliver feels better. Anyway it’s exciting having a kitten again after such a long time.

A very warm welcome to TCS! :hellosmiley: Thank you for adopting Oliver. It sounds as though you are already smitten with his nuzzling and tenderness. :catlove: Definitely take the cat/dog introductions slowly once he has adjusted to your home. If you have any questions about this you may want to post your questions here: Other Pets & Animals
