So Khaleesi likes oil. She is an odd one. I use olive oil myself for everything (makeup remover, moisturizer, I even make a homemade scrub with it) so I always have a big bottle of the fancy imported EVOO in the house. Today after using it on my face to eliminate dry skin after a shower I picked Khaleesi up, and she started sniffing then licking my face (she is not a kisser so this was odd). I stopped her as I had no idea if olives were poisonous to cats, a quick search online told me no so I offered her some in a bowl which she didn't want. However again, when I dipped my finger in it she licked it off. She probably consumed about 1/2 tsp like this before losing interest. She has also done this before with virgin coconut oil that I used on my hair (trying to eat it) and has a well established love for vaseline (she gets some infrequently to prevent hairballs and keep stuff moving but I would rather her have something natural).
So the question is, while it isn't toxic, is olive oil GOOD for cats? Should I give her virgin coconut oil instead? I wouldn't give her much, and she doesn't seem to want much, because I do not want mal-absorption issues or diarrhea. The question I really have is if this has any health benefits, WHY she would want this (it seems odd as her sister thinks oil stinks and winces at the smell) and if it is ok to give how frequently can she have it?
