I have an 8 year old cat and I just got a kitten who's about 7 weeks old. I've had the kitten for about a week now.

Polka (8y) is not getting along with Jinxx (7w).

When I was washing him the day I got him (once because he came from a house with a lot of cats and kittens and he smelled like pee, and again because he had fleas), Polka was outside the bathroom door yowling back whenever Jinxx yowled. My mother said she looked very concerned/stressed out.

Once I took Jinxx out, dried him off, and made sure there wasn't any more fleas on him, I tried to introduce him to Polka and she started hissing and growling (she rarely hisses, and I've never EVER heard her growl). She even stratched up my hands and stomach when we tried to spray her with flea prevention stuff (I don't have enough money to buy three flea collars), one, because Jinxx was looking at her, and, two, because i was holding her up while my mom sprayed her.

Almost everyday I let him wander around the floor she's on. Today I was combing her and she was doing fine until Jinxx came in. She started hissing and growling and she even tried to bite me.

Is there anything I can do to get her to be nice to him? He hasn't tried to hurt her at all, and she's used to sharing a house because I aslo have a dog.

Introductions between cats can take a long time.  Your resident 8 year old cat has been the lone cat for 8 years and now you are asking him to share his territory.  This process may take quite some time.  The trick is not to just place them down in front of each other and hope for the best.  Instead you need to follow cat to cat introduction techniques.  The process is meant to take some time.  If you rush the steps, you will only need to back track.  Right now the cats should not be having any face to face time.  Here are a few articles and a great video that should help.  Back up and start the process fresh.
