I picked up my first cat about 9 years ago from a local no-kill shelter.
When she was in the shelter, she was in one of the wall cages because she didn't get along with the other cats there.
Today, 9 years later, i've been considering getting a second cat to keep her company. I'm gone every day to work and some evenings - I try to give her as much attention as I can but I wonder if having a feline companion would make her happier.
I just don't know whether or not she's become more cat-friendly in the past 9 years. She's an indoor only cat and she's seen other cats outside the window, and never really reacted aggressively - but that's with a big pane of glass between her and the other cats. Is there any way to tell how she might react to a second cat? Has anyone heard of shelters doing any sort of 'meet and greet' to see if the two cats would get along before actually adopting?
