If ever a bug could send me screaming, it's a roach!!!

My mother swears this is a true story, and the reason that I am so traumatized by these horrible creatures!
I was 2 years old, sleeping in my bed. The bedspread had those frilly little strings hanging down at the bottom. We had just moved into this house. Mom came in to check on me and said I was squirming a lot in bed, so she turned on the hall light to be able to see me. All over the bed were roaches, hundreds of them!!!!
Needless to say, she took me to her bed that night!
The next day they called the exterminators. Seems there was a panel in my closet that led to the bathroom plumbing...and it was filled with......ROACHES and their EGGS!!!
Is it any wonder I'm traumatized?????

I buy non-climing roaches that reach two inches long . They are called Balaptica dubia roaches to feed to my Bearded Dragon.

I KNOW
everybody thinks I'm crazy but they are great food for her. The best part is I decided to breed my own so I had to pay $2.50 each for the females and $1.25 each for males.

Talk about true love for your animals

I used to not bother opening the little door on the front of our mailbox, but just lifted the top flap and stuck my hand in the slot to pull out the mail. A couple of years ago, I was getting the mail, and something bit me, hard enough to draw blood. When I opened up the mailbox, I found the mother of all wood spiders. Since then, I've used the key to open the little door.

When we were still in PA, I spotted what looked to me like a tarantula on our cellar stairs. My husband insisted I was exaggerating the spider's size (although my brother had had a pet one). Then my father was visiting and saw it, and also said it looked like a tarantula. It must have been down in our cellar for days or weeks. Then I just happened to be talking to our next door neighbor, and she told me her son was very upset about losing his tarantula! It must have gotten out of its cage in his bedroom, made its way downstairs and outside, crawled across the side yards, and in our cellar window. The son spent ages hunting for it in our cellar (and did a lot of straightening up) before he found it.

I was once walking home from right next door. We lived next to my Aunt's house. Well, she moved out, and didn't mow before nor after she moved. So the grass was like... I don't know, three feet high in the back, two feet on the side, with one little path that our lawn mower somehow managed to get through enough to walk in.
Well, I had to go over there, because UPS left a package.... I got the package, and as I was walking back, I hear it..... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...... since I have a phobia of wasps and bees, mainly wasps, I looked around, and found nothing flying around my head, so I kept walking, and I hear it again, louder and longer..... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.......... YIKES! I started walking faster, and the buzzing kept going. My heart was racing because of how loud this buzz was! BZZZZZ.... sounding like it was right next to my head.... like it was surrounding my head! Then I see it...... this wasp, the size of an apple hovering up out of the grass!!!

It was what is known as a wood wasp. They burrow in the ground, and if you make one mad, you're in trouble. One of my other aunts once ran over a nest with a bush wacker.... she was going along, and here's a faint buzz... she turned around to see 20-30 wood wasps hovering up, and starting towards her. Needless to say, she put that bush wacker in HIGH gear!

I saw that wasp... at first, I froze, terrified..... the one phobia I have, and it has to be THIS! I took a deep breath.... I held it and didn't let go until I had run all the way in my house, to my bedroom. I breathed again. I came out, gave the package to my parents and said, "That's the LAST time I'm going over there! And I didn't go over there, til the lawn was mowed, my aunt's mobile home was moved, and my sister built a house there. I still will always remember that, though..... and I still refuse to go that way around my house to hers.... I go the long way instead.

Uuuuggggghhhhhhhhhhh
That is GROSS!!! Cockroaches are hideous things aren't they?? I can't kill things, though, so that one would still be alive racing around my house somewhere until Sashka got it (she specialises in roaches...lol)

I am utterly, completely and totally terrified of spiders. A few years ago I had just bought a new car and I had taken it for a drive, then driven it home, then husband at the time hopped in and we took it for another drive...when we pulled up into our driveway he turned and looked at me and then his eyes slid to something above my head. All he said was, `Baby, get out of the car. Now.' There was something in his tone that made me just do what he said without asking questions, and when I got out he said, `Go inside. Now'. So I went inside and then my curiosity got the better of me and I came back out. For over two hours, sitting upside down on the ceiling of the car - ABOVE MY HEAD - was the biggest spider you have ever seen. It was a huntsman that literally would have outdone my whole handspan. Andy tried to get it and it crawled into the engine of the car. Well, that was it for me - no driving that car ever again until it was found and disposed of. He managed to get it out by squirting water from the hose on it - and then it crawled onto the right headlight. At that point Andy took a photo of it - it covered the WHOLE light it was so huge!! He then managed to capture it and let it go in the alley way behind our house - over the fence thank goodness! There is no way I would've let him kill it but I was sure glad it was gone, and I was really freaked out driving that car for ages afterwards!!
